We recently had a mellow backcountry outing in the northern Colorado front range with the dogs (Pics below). We didn’t expect spectacular skiing and were content to be skinning in the woods and enjoying the scenery of the Rockies and crisp mountain air. After a chill approach we topped out on a ridgeline at about 12,000 feet. We skied wind-affected powder up high and softer powder lower in the trees. After seven miles of ascending and descending in the snow the dogs were tired pups. But like us they can’t wait to do it again.
