We camped on the banks of the Nooksack River east of Bellingham, Wash., and were treated with a glorious sunset. The Nooksack begins high in the North Cascades. It starts as three separate forks before merging into one river that eventually spills into Bellingham Bay at Puget Sound. The Nooksack rages hard in the spring during peak snow melt. The river is sweet for kayaking and fly angling, and camping on the shoreline.
