I can’t get my mind off mountain biking right now, so today’s Primal Photo features the start of a Summit Mountain Challenge (SMC) mountain bike race last season in Breckenridge, Colo. The SMC could be one of the country’s toughest mountain bike race series. Courses range in elevation from 9,000 to 13,000 feet above sea level and utilize the vast network of single track trails in the rugged wilderness surrounding Breckenridge. All seven SMC races are held on Wednesday evenings and offer categories for all abilities — from juniors to pros. This is a great series to get your feet wet in mountain bike racing or for seasoned riders to get a highly-competitive, world-class race race experience. The 2012 SMC kicks off this year with the Frisco Roundup on June 6.
